Cork Independant Feature - Bushido Karate Club Wins Silver and Bronze at the Open Championships
Bushido Karate Club win Silver and Bronze At the Open Championships.
Students of Bushido Karate Club have just competed in their first International Karate-Do competition. The Competition was The Open International Karate-Do Championship which took place in Killorglin, Co. Kerry on the 10th and 11th of September 2011. Bushido Karate Club was very successful winning two silver and a bronze medal in a very tough event with international competitors from several countries. In particular one of our students Sam O Callaghan won a silver medal in his category, this was Sam's first competition since starting Karate in March and is a great achievement to what you can achieve with hard work and good preparation.
Sensei Aaron Kenneally instructor of Bushido Karate Club, won a silver medal as part of the SKIF Ireland kata team and a bronze medal in the Senior individuals. Student Mike Twomey Thompson also competed well but was very unlucky to be just outside the medals places. The club is now looking forward to competing in the SKIF Ireland Kanazawa Cup which will be taking place in November and the students are also training very hard for their upcoming Grading and training seminar under Kancho Kanazawa 10th Dan (Head of SKIF Worldwide) and the first visit to Ireland for his son Fumitoshi Sensei (5th Dan) who won the SKIF World Championships in 2006 and the SKIF All Japan Championships 7 times.
