The competition will be run using a card system so you can register on the day. For convenience, please email names beforehand so we can have your cards ready for collection. Categories will be decided on the day and based on Age and grade to ensure a better experience.

Entry Cost: €25 (This covers individual kata, individual kumite, and team kata.)

Please note you must have an individual competitor card to participate in the team kata event.

BASIC SYNOPSIS OF RULES

  • The Championships will be run using traditional Shobu Ippon rules.
  • Kumite Rules: Shobu Han Ippon (3 points), 1.5 minutes (Juniors) and 2 minutes (Seniors).
  • Traditional, clean, white karate dogi only.
  • Kumite: Women may wear a chest guard. Men must wear a groin guard.
  • Gum shields and mitts must be worn. No other protection or padding will be allowed.
  • Any category with insufficient entries may be merged with another.
  • All clubs or groups are encouraged to bring a table official or referee with experience in Shobu Ippon rules.
  • Refreshments will be available all day in the hall for officials.
  • Restaurant on campus for competitors/spectators to purchase refreshments.
  • Senior Dan grades will be required to assist in refereeing and judging on the day.
  • A navy blazer, grey trousers, white shirt, and tie are required for all Judges.
